Thrump-thrump.
When you start a company in your basement, like we did,
certain things come with the territory.
Thrump-thrump.
A son who learns the letters UPS before the letters ABC.
Thrump-thrump.
Strange looks from neighbors who wonder why any normal
household needs so many phone lines.
Thrump-thrump.
Inventory stored in bedrooms and bathrooms.
Thrump-thrump.
And, of course, the constant background sound of a noisy furnace.
Thrump-thrump.
But, hey, you get used to it.
Thrump-thrump.
And now that we've been in our new space for a few years.
Thrump-thrump.
We’ve got to admit there are times we miss that old furnace.
Thrump-thrump.
Kind of.
Chapter 2
Knock-knock.
Who’s there?
Knock-knock.
Gordon Segal from Crate and Barrel.
Knock-knock.
Gordon-Segal-from-Crate and Barrel-who?
Knock-knock.
Gordon Segal from Crate and Barrel, who would like to help you take
your fantastic products into The Land of Nod stores,
increase your service and expand your product selection.
Knock-knock.
This must be some sort of joke, we said. But, of course, it wasn’t.
Knock-knock.
And after much thought (and many long, boring meetings),
we decided to open the door.
Knock-knock.
Today, we are partners with Crate and Barrel.
Knock-knock.
Tomorrow, we may have a store near you.
Knock-knock.
It’s an exciting partnership.
Knock-knock.
A partnership, quite frankly, that’s hard to knock.
Chapter 3
Think, think.
With Crate and Barrel behind us, we expanded our catalog and website,
as well as increased our product selection.
Think, think.
Ooh, we've got it! Let'’s open a store. But where?
Think, think.
Northbrook Court. It’s close to home. (That way we can be home in time for dinner.)
Think, think.
OK, so where to next?
Think, think.
Chicago. It’s our kind of town.
Think, think.
Then someone said, "Go west, young men." So we did. All the way to Seattle.
Think, think.
One more ought to do the trick. Let’s set up shop in Oakbrook Center.
Think, think.
So we guess the only thing left to think about is.
Think, think.
When are you going to come see us?
Go Shopping
