Ludwig Bemelmans spent his first Christmas in America as an immigrant at Ellis Island. From then on, the creator of the beloved Madeline books retained a special fondness for the holiday. Collected here are several marvelous holiday pieces: Madeline in America, first published in McCall's magazine in 1955 and now presented with Ludwig's original drawings, rendered in glorious full color by John Marciano in his grandfather's style.
