Rated 5 out of 5 by dkmcnutt from Hours of funMy daughter loves these. She is 6 and needed lots of help with them at first. She had never sewn anything before. Now, she can do most of it by herself and loves seeing something she made. These are a great sewing starter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Happy Mom from Fun for kids and adults...Got this for my nine year old. It's a great kit. We started on the llama this morning. Does it look picture perfect? No. But it is teaching her patience and keeping her busy. The needle is a flexible and forgiving plastic so no pricked fingers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by kar79 from Fun!I got this for my 5 year old son -- it's not too girly which I love. It's a great way to spend some quality down time with him and a way to work on his fine motor skills. I know he'll be so happy when's he's completed one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jsignoriello from Can't wait for my daughter to make these!I bought these for my daughter's birthday ~ she will be turing 6. She recently has been asking me to learn to sew since she loves watching me sew dresses for her and her sister. I thought this would be a great introduction to working with fibers and needles and will satisfy her "sewing" urge! She is going to love these and I can't wait for her birthday for her to try them out!

Rated 4 out of 5 by mamato4inCA from Fun starting kit for older kidsI agree with many of the other reviewers that this is likely suited more for kids 7 and up. My daughter was just turning 7 when she started and it took several rows of assistance before she got the hang of it on her own. Once she did, though, she has been off and running and each project takes quite a while. She's been at the first one for a couple of months now and still has a way to go. That's where the issue comes in, there is absolutely not enough yarn to complete even one project with this kit. We've already had to replace 2 yarn colors by finding the yarn at our local craft store. That's fine but it shouldn't be sold as a kit if it doesn't include enough materials to complete even one of the projects. Overall, it has been a really fun purchase and my son (6) is eager to begin soon too!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Maggiegrace from Good starter kitI bought this as a Christmas gift for my 8 year old son, who had previously been playing with basic cross stitch in single color on some clear cross stitch canvas sheets. He is enjoying having a design to work from. He associates this activity with the Ingles sisters of Little House fame, whom he admires. This is an activity that requires adult participation. The designs are fun and can be appealing regardless of gender, but require many color changes. Excellent activity to encourage focused attention. Great while listening to audio books or prairie home companion!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Alme from Fun idea and cute designs. This is a cute set but I wish it was more clear which pieces of yarn go with each template. There didn't seem to be enough blue to finish the background of the one with a blue background, so we ended up having two different blues mixed together which is distracting to me. I got this for my daughter at age 6 and she has needed my help to work on these.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Morzsi from More instructions would be helpfulI bought this kit for my 7 and 9 year olds, and they love the patterns. But I have to agree with the other reviewers who found that the instructions are totally inadequate. My 7 year-old still enjoyed working on them, but if your kid is more concerned about getting them to look like the picture, expect to do a lot of helping out.

Rated 1 out of 5 by crafty from Not enough yarn!As an adult who knows how to needlepoint, I started running out of colors after the first was done, and am now partway through two more and will not be able to finish any of the other three. When I contacted the store, I was told there is no replacement yarn although they could put me in touch with a store where I would have to buy it myself. Not cool!

Rated 1 out of 5 by mta0913 from Instructions NeededThese are way too difficult for the 5+ age recommendation. The instructions weren't clear at all. Googling videos only lead to further confusion since they were contradictory to the instructions provided. It was very frustrating. Maybe an 8+ child could be successful with these but not with the instructions in the package.

Rated 1 out of 5 by neub0729 from I had high hopesI bought this for my daughter for christmas because she is loving crafts!! i passed on other sets because this was the cutest design set by far! I was really let down once we started it. It is very hard -so hard in fact I have taken them over and will have to make them for her. The age is definitely too low. She is 7 and this is labeled for a 5 year old. Also, the directions are awful, one 3x5 piece of paper with very vague instructions. we are quite disappointed.
